A Prayer based on Proverbs 5:1-23

Good Morning, Lord.  I bow before you today to pay close attention to your wisdom.  I don’t want to just hear, but see.  Give me a craving’ for good sense. 

Teach me truth, and keep me out of trouble.

The temptation of seductive women is sweet.  Their voice is soft and silky.  Help me remember that it won’t be long until her voice is like gravel in her mouth, like a pain in the gut, an injured heart.

Help me remember that her dance is a primrose pathway to death.  Her destination is hell, and she wants to take me with her.  Show me clearly how clueless she is about the reality of life.  Teach me all about her.

Help me listen closely to you, and never treat your words casually.  Lend me your hand. 

Keep me from such women; don’t even let me go into their neighborhood.  Guard me from squandering and wasting the wonderful life you have given me, among the cold and callous women.  Do not let strangers take advantage of me.  Don’t allow me to be taken advantage of by people who care nothing for you.

May my last days be my best days:  No regrets. 

Let me not collapse into nothing but sin and bones,

saying “They told me so, but I didn’t listen.”

Do not let me reject discipline in my life. 
Help me listen to words of my mentors. 
Let me take the words of my teachers seriously. 
Do not allow my life to be ruined with not a single thing to show for myself.

My most sincere prayer is that I never take Love for granted.    Help me to be a one woman sort of man.  Loving and making love with the wife of my youth.  Let me be thirsty only for her lips.  May her love for me never be polluted, nor my heart dry and empty.

My wife/husband is the only source for intimate refreshing relationship.  Keep me from fornication and/or adultery.  Bless my relationship with my spouse that it may be continually refreshing for both of us.  Let the greatest joy and pleasure in my life be reserved for my wife/husband.  He/she is my angel.  Let me always delight in his/her body.  Do not allow me to take that love for granted even for a second. 

Never let me trade the love and intimacy I have with my soul mate for cheap thrills with promiscuous strangers.

You know every move I make, Lord. 
You are aware of each step I take. 
Sin will overtake me like a shadow and I will stumble in the dark without your wisdom.

Keep me from a premature death by guarding my heart. 
Remind me constantly that foolish decisions and actions always lead to a dead end road.
