A Prayer based on Proverbs 4:1-22

Almighty God, help me stand up straight and pay attention to your wisdom. 

Give me good counsel and don’t let it slip from my mind.

Help me remember Godly words of wisdom taught to me by family members and Godly people. 

Help me to hide these words in my heart that I may not sin against you.

I am willing to pay any price for Wisdom.  Help me to search diligently for the ability to see the world as you see it.  When I learn a truth from you, help me not to forget it or move one inch away from it.

Wisdom is the ability to see things the way God sees them.  Help me to look constantly into your face so that I can instantly see if you are pleased or displeased.  

I desire wisdom above anything.  I write that desire at the top of my want list.  When I understand things the way you see them, help me to hold that idea close and never forget it.  No regrets.

Grant me the courage to wear your truth and grace like a necklace around my neck.  Let that be my beauty.  Let your wisdom make me handsome.

Thank you for the years you are adding to my life because I listen to you.  Help me keep your truth like a GPS on my dash board.  Keep me off dead end streets; don’t let me waste my life on wrong turns. 

I hold tighter and tighter your good advice.  I am willing to bet my life on your truth.  I will guard it with all my heart.

Stop me when I am tempted to take a wicked short cut.  Don’t even let me start down that road. Help me make a wide circle around even the idea.  Let detours be easy for me.  Help me not to be impatient.

Keep me from evil people who never sleep.  Some people don’t seem to be happy unless they are stirring up trouble or sharing gossip.  The tastes of their ideas are wicked, dangerous and bring death to me and those I love.

Heavenly Father, help me glow with the light of your truth. 

Give me long life.  Help me grow brighter and brighter the older I get.
 

Let the road of perversity, violence, drugs, and wild women, and strong drink be darker and darker for me.  Help me to walk in the light and never fall flat on my face.

You are wise.  Love you Lord!

When I am in tune with you, I am really living.  I feel your presence in my body, my soul and spirit.  It’s as good for me as a work-out at the gym.

Station your angels around my heart, Lord.  That is the source of my life.  Command them to guard my heart day and night.

Don’t let me speak with a forked tongue, help me flee from careless bantering, lies and gossip.

Help me to look straight ahead, and not be distracted by some sideshow.

I am desperately trying to pay attention.  
Guard my steps.  Make the road smooth before me.  
Keep me straight, may evil never be remembered of my life.
