Prayer Based on Proverb 2:1-22

Help me be encouraged by the words of Proverbs.  Let the words be stored in my mind and heart forever.   May my ears be sensitive to the wisdom of God and as a result give me unusual understanding.

Help me to wait for insight and take the time to prioritize before I give an answer.  Help me to search for insight from you like a search for a national treasure. Let me demonstrate the fear of God in my life.  Humble me when I stumble into God’s knowledge.

Praise you O Lord:  your wisdom is free.  It is plain.  It is easily spoken and brings insight.

Make me a rich source of common sense.  Let me speak with sincerity and candor.  Help me take notice of people who live honestly and pay close attention to people who demonstrate loyalty.

May I be able to immediately recognize what is true and fair?  Help me know how to test things out.

Let Wisdom be my best soul mate.  Let Knowledge be like a brother to me.  Give me wisdom to see danger before the average person.  May my insight be keen and focused.

Help me use my insight to keep me from making wrong decisions, and following bad advice.

Help me to recognize people who don’t know their rear end from a hole in the ground and who party and celebrate life like a game.

Keep me from paths that go nowhere, that wander down the streets from one detour to another.  Keep me focused on the one and only, narrow path to righteousness.  No detours.

Teach me to listen when friends warn me of tempting and seductive women.  Help me understand that if she is unfaithful with me, she will most likely be unfaithful to me.

Show me how to discern and pray for individuals who are on the path of destruction.

I pray for people who are left in her destructive path.  Give them grace to be restored.

Introduce me to the company of good men and women.   Help me to cast my lot with them.  Guard their lives as well as mine.

Help me remember that straight talking men and women are the foundation of liberty.  Help me endure.

May I never be corrupt or dis-honest. 

When people think of me may it be that I am a man of righteousness.
